Floratam St. Augustine grass and Empire Zoysia are the two most popular varieties of grass. Both are full sun (Zoysia can take a bit more shade, too) and have good durability. The Empire Zoysia doesn't get chinch bugs and can live through droughts better.

Which grass is right for me?
Floratam St. Augustine is the classic, wide bladed grass you find across Central Florida and Ocoee. It requires full sun.
Seville St. Augustine grass is a shade tolerant variety of St. Augustine grass. If you have trees that cover the yard in shade during the day, Seville may be the best choice. It is a lighter shade of green than Floratam.
Empire Zoysia is a durable turfgrass that is great for the home. Chinch bugs won't kill it and it will live longer through drought than St. Augustine grass. It has fine blades that you keep cut shorter.
Celebration Bermudagrass is a beautiful grass used for soccer fields, baseball diamonds, golf courses and other sporting uses. It can be used for homes as well, but can be higher maintenance than the more common grass types.
